Use our free credit score calculator to estimate your credit score range and see how everyday money moves — like paying off debt, opening a new card, or missing a payment — could change your number.
This credit score simulator is provided for educational and informational purposes only. It estimates an approximate credit score range based on the answers you enter below. Your real score is the result of a complex scoring methodology applied to your full credit report, which changes daily, and may differ materially from this estimate. Nothing on this page is financial, credit, or legal advice.
Payment history is the single biggest factor in your credit score (35%).
Total balances ÷ total credit limits. Aim for under 30% — under 10% is ideal.

See my loan optionsOur free credit score calculator uses the same five factors that power your credit score: payment history (35%), credit utilization (30%), length of credit history (15%), credit mix (10%), and new credit (10%). When you adjust a slider or simulate paying off debt, we re-weight those factors and convert the result to the standard 300–850 credit score range. It is not a pull from a credit bureau and it cannot see your real credit report — think of it as a sandbox where you can safely test "what if" scenarios before making a money move.
Paying off debt is one of the fastest ways to move the needle on your credit score, but the size of the change depends on which debt you pay first. Knocking your credit card balances under 10% utilization tends to produce the biggest, fastest jump because revolving utilization updates on every statement cycle. Paying off an installment loan such as a car loan or personal loan helps too, but the effect is usually smaller and may even cause a small dip if it leaves you with only one type of credit. Toggle the "Pay off all credit card debt" and "Pay off an installment loan" buttons above to compare the two side by side.
If you want to build your credit score from scratch or recover from a rough patch, focus on the boring stuff first: pay every bill on or before the due date, keep at least one credit card active with a small balance you can pay in full, and avoid applying for credit you don't need. Consistency matters more than any single move. The simulator's "Make 12 on-time payments in a row" action shows how powerful one year of perfect payments can be — especially if you also chip away at utilization in the same period.
There are several credit scoring models in use today, and lenders may use their own proprietary models. Roughly 90% of top lenders use some form of credit scoring to make lending decisions. Most models run on a 300–850 scale and use similar inputs, but the math differs slightly — which is why your score from a free app may not match the score a lender sees. This simulator estimates a credit score range based on publicly known scoring factors.

No. There is no soft or hard inquiry involved. The tool only estimates a score from the inputs you provide.
It is an approximation. The exact scoring formulas used by credit bureaus are proprietary and your real score is based on the full contents of your credit report. Treat the result as a directional guide, not a guarantee.
For most people, the fastest credit score boost comes from paying revolving credit card balances down below 10% utilization right before the statement closes. Combine that with 100% on-time payments and you'll usually see movement within one or two billing cycles.
